In short
- AI SEO tools now range from autopilot writers that publish every day to editors that score a draft while a person writes it.
- For agencies with many client sites, Orbit finds the work in each site’s own data, drafts it, publishes once someone approves, and measures what each piece earned.
- Outrank and SEObot are the cheapest way to publish at volume, from $49 to $99 a month; Search Atlas and Alli AI change pages across many sites through a snippet.
- Surfer and Clearscope remain the editors for writers who want a score while they work.
How we ranked them
Ranked for one job: improving client sites every month with AI, and proving what the work earned. Orbit is our own product, judged on the same terms as the rest; for publishing volume on one site, or an editor for writers, the order changes, and each entry says where it is the better pick.
- 01
Starts from real data
Topics and fixes come from the site’s own search data and buyers, not only a keyword list.
- 02
Clear about what runs alone
Says what it changes by itself and what waits for a person, with a way to approve first.
- 03
Writes in the client’s voice
Drafts that sound like the client and link to their real pages.
- 04
Measures what it published
Shows what each piece or change earned, against where it started.
- 05
Works across many sites
Pricing and access that hold up across a client list.
- 06
Prices you can check

The 9 best AI SEO tools, ranked
- 01
Orbit
Our productOrbit reads each client site’s search, visitor, link and AI data, and on Zenith puts the work worth doing on a Signals board twice a week, with the numbers behind each card. A content idea becomes a draft in the client’s voice and language, scored and checked against what the site already has, and goes into Webflow, WordPress, Shopify, Drupal, Sanity, Payload or Craft once someone presses Publish. Every finished card is then measured against its starting point, every day.

AI SEO software: three kinds, one question
AI SEO tools fall into three groups. Autopilot writers, like Outrank and SEObot, pick topics and publish articles on a schedule. Page agents, like Search Atlas’s OTTO and Alli AI, change titles, structured data and links across a site through a snippet. Editors, like Surfer and Clearscope, score a draft while a person writes it.
What sorts them is what happens without a person. On a founder’s own blog, an autopilot can be fine. Under a client’s name, an agency answers for every word, so look for an approval step and a record of what each piece earned. For tools aimed at AI answers rather than Google’s results, see the best AEO and GEO tools.
SEO automation tools: what can run on its own
Work that only reads a site is safe to automate completely. Work that changes a live site is not, because it goes out under the client’s name and can throw away what a page has earned.
| Task | Run on its own? | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Pulling search, visitor and link data | Yes | It only reads |
| Weekly health checks and broken links | Yes | Finding a problem changes nothing |
| Finding gaps and ranking the work | Yes | A list of work is a suggestion |
| Drafting articles and edits | Yes, as drafts | A draft harms no one until it is live |
| Publishing to a live site | Needs a person | It goes out under the client’s name |
| Editing or deleting live pages | Needs a person | Rankings and links can be lost |
| Redirects and merges | Needs a person | A wrong redirect throws away what a page earned |
Orbit is built on that line. It pulls every client site’s data each day, re-reads pages every night and runs its health, link and AI checks every week on its own. It writes when asked, and every publish, edit to a live page, deletion or merge waits for an approval that shows the exact change, before and after. How automation works in Orbit.
Best AI tools for SEO in an agency
The price per client, not per seat, decides what a tool costs an agency. Outrank is $99 a site, less 15% from five sites, so $841.50 a month for ten. Alli AI’s Agency plan covers 15 sites for $499 a month billed yearly. Semrush is priced per user, from $139.95 a month.
In Orbit, one Agency plan covers the agency, and each client site has a plan of its own, depending on how much Orbit does there. The Signals board, writing, publishing and measured results come with Zenith. See how Orbit compares with Search Atlas and Semrush.
How we checked
Every fact about Search Atlas, Surfer SEO, Clearscope, Semrush, Alli AI, Outrank, SEObot and Jasper comes from the vendor’s own website, read on 6 Oct 2026: its pricing page where it publishes one, otherwise its help pages and announcements. Each price links to the page it came from, in US dollars as the vendor states them.
Orbit is our own product, and the page says so wherever it appears. Its prices come from our pricing page. Prices change; if you spot one that has, tell us and we correct the page.
