In short
- AEO tools help a business get named in AI answers: they find the questions buyers ask, fix what keeps AI from reading a page, and write the pages AI assistants cite.
- For agencies with many client sites, Orbit runs that work per site: the questions and the fixes on Ascend, the drafted pages and measured results on Zenith.
- For one large brand, Writesonic and Profound go deepest, with daily tracking and agents that rewrite and draft pages.
- If you only need to know whether a brand is named, a tracker is enough: see the best AI visibility tools.
How we ranked them
Ranked for one job: getting clients named in AI answers, and proving it, across many client sites. Orbit is our own product, judged on the same terms as the rest; for one large brand checked daily on every engine, the order changes, and each entry says where it is the better pick.
- 01
Finds the questions
Starts from the questions buyers really ask AI assistants, not only from a list of keywords.
- 02
Fixes what AI can’t read
Spots pages AI tools can’t read and crawlers a site shuts out, and says how to fix them.
- 03
Writes what AI cites
Drafts or rewrites pages in the client’s voice, with a person approving before anything goes live.
- 04
Measures the change
Checks each fix afterwards: mentions, citations, and the visitors and leads AI sends.
- 05
Built for a client list
Pricing, workspaces and client access that hold up across many sites.
- 06
Prices you can check
Published prices, read on the vendor’s own page.

What AEO and GEO mean, in plain words
Answer engine optimization (AEO) and generative engine optimization (GEO) are two names for the same work: getting a business named, and its pages cited, when someone asks ChatGPT, Gemini or Google’s AI a question. LLM SEO is a third name for it. Where SEO aims for a place in a list of links, AEO aims for a place in the answer itself.
The work has three parts. Find the questions buyers really ask an assistant. Make sure AI tools can read the pages that answer them. Then write or rewrite those pages so they answer plainly, with facts and sources an assistant can quote.
AEO tools or AI visibility tools?
A tracker tells you whether a brand is named. An AEO tool helps change the answer. Most tools now do some of both, so the line runs through what happens after a gap shows up: a chart, or a page to fix. The nine tools here were picked for the fixing. For tracking alone, Peec AI, Otterly.AI and the rest are compared in the best AI visibility tools.
LLM SEO tools: what they fix on a page
- The answer first: the opening lines answer the question in full, so an assistant can quote them.
- Text AI can read: AI tools don’t run a page’s code, so text that only appears after a page loads is text they never see.
- The right crawlers let in: blocking an AI company’s training crawler costs nothing, but blocking its search crawler keeps a site out of that assistant’s answers.
- Sources and facts: a page that names its sources and states facts plainly is easier to cite.
- Mentions elsewhere: assistants lean on other sites too, so it pays to know which sites the answers cite for each question.
Orbit’s weekly health check gives two answers for every client site, whether Google can show its pages and whether AI tools can read them, and AI visibility shows which sites the answers rely on for each question.
Generative engine optimization tools for agencies
Most GEO tools are priced per brand. That works for one company and adds up fast across a client list: ten clients at $250 a month each is $2,500 a month before any page is written. So check three things before you choose: the price per client site, whether each client can see their own results, and whether the work lands in each client’s own CMS.
In Orbit, the agency pays one plan, and each client site is priced on its own. The AI questions and the health check come with Ascend. The Signals board, pages written in the client’s voice, publishing into the client’s CMS and results measured on every finished task come with Zenith. Clients can be invited as guests to see their own site, and guests are never billed.
How we checked
Every fact about Writesonic, Profound, Goodie, Frase, Search Atlas, Scrunch AI, AirOps and Surfer SEO comes from the vendor’s own website, read on 6 Oct 2026: its pricing page where it publishes one, otherwise its help pages and announcements. Each price links to the page it came from, in US dollars as the vendor states them.
Orbit is our own product, and the page says so wherever it appears. Its prices come from our pricing page. Prices change; if you spot one that has, tell us and we correct the page.
